Overview
For this advertising copywriting assignment, I developed copy and visual direction for RIO Micro-Buzz across Weibo, Xiaohongshu, and WeChat Moments. The concept drew on the brand’s ‘a drink for one’ positioning and the theme of a quiet evening alone. It was aimed at adults aged 18–30 who enjoy small everyday rituals.

The challenge
The challenge was to adapt one idea to three reading habits: a conversation starter on Weibo, a note worth saving on Xiaohongshu, and a personal update on WeChat Moments. Each version needed its own opening, tone, and invitation to respond.

Approach
The creative theme was making room for a quiet evening, without feeling obliged to be sociable.
For Weibo, I connected the idea to conversations about MBTI and introversion. I used second-person copy, polls, and open questions to invite readers to share their own experiences.
For Xiaohongshu, I wrote a conversational note around the search term “emo”, using short passages and emoji to suit the platform’s informal style and invite comments.
For WeChat Moments, I used the tone of a personal update and proposed an evening placement to match the scene described in the copy.
I also developed two advertising concepts: a RIO × MBTI banner with a short question and call to action, and a longer RIO × Tims Christmas print execution with a story, product range, and purchase prompt.
What I took from it: adapting copy across platforms means changing how a story opens and how readers are invited to respond, while keeping the product and occasion recognisable.
Project scope: These were copywriting concepts produced for coursework. The platform adaptations and advertising executions were not tested or published as a live RIO campaign.
